Find a Travel Date with XO Travel Club
It's not always possible, even adviseable or permissable, to travel alone; at times travel companions are needed for the vacation (or business trip) one has hoped for.
Perhaps this is he or she's first time out and one is nervous, or something has happened in one's life that is painful, or one is concerned about being alone, and feeling lonely, or one doesn't speak the language, or one is going to a country where on their own raise eyebrows or lead to potentially serious problems, albeit dangerous circumstances.

Lets face it - on occasion, there are some real advantages to a travel companion: travel can be cheaper when he or she shares, better able to deal with loneliness if it hits, feel safer and more secure, or may simply be the gregarious type who wants someone to talk to. Be more comfortable in societies that frown on solo travel.
He or she has tried one's friends, family, fellow students, work colleagues... and no one can travel when he or she wants to, or no one wants to go where he or she is going... and one has  decided that this time, one doesn't want to be traveling alone. So one has came to us looking for a travel date.

Rules that simplify one's life:
Please be careful.
So if you're looking for a travel date, a few simple rules of caution will help make sure he or she won't run into trouble. After all, when he or she says one is seeking travel companions, one means it. But that might not be the case for everyone else.
Make sure he or she's first meeting is in a well-lit public place during the day. There's every probability ones contact will be with someone else seeking a travel companion, just like he or she, rather than a criminal or harasser posing as one. But be smart - be careful.
Take one's cellphone to the meeting, and let someone know where he or she is going. It's probably perfectly safe. Better yet, take a friend.
When he or she is searching online, be cautious with ones profile. Fill in enough to show one's compatibility and honesty.
Make sure he or she provides enough details on ones proposed trip - when he or she is going, where, and style of travel. Otherwise you might end up weeding through hundreds of incompatible proposals!

Compatibility matters when choosing a travel date. Who wants to go with someone on a singles cruise or romantic weekend getaways that they don't get along with? He or she has made the decision to seek out a travel date, one's got a few nibbles and potential partners, but now he or she has to narrow it down. How does one decide? How does one take that final step that may bind one to another person for weeks or even months?

These are selections for one to make, in XO Travel Club drop down menus, consider the following:
Travel style: whether she or he's comfortable backpacking or is more of a hotel junkie
Personal rhythm: if she's or he's a morning person, a night person, if one needs a siesta or on the road all day every day
Flexibility: is she or he easygoing and adventurous, while they're rigid and prepares an itinerary a week ahead
Budget: when his or her own ideas of "roughing it" don't quite match
Likes and dislike: what does he or she like to do on the road - shopping versus sightseeing, lounging versus sports
Possibly the most important compatibility test has to do with ones reasons for travel. If these don't match, think carefully about one's potential companion. If he or she is trying to find oneself and he or she is running away from an affair gone bad, moods and expectations will differ wildly enough to make travel together unbearably risky.
